On-line Covering a Box by Cubes

We show that the cube of side $s$ in Euclidean $d$-space can be on-line
covered by every sequence of cubes of sides at most 1 whose total volume
is at least a number\ $V(s,d)$ of the order of magnitude $s^d$ with 
factor 1.
